Carpenter was born on July 23, 1970, in Las Vegas, Nevada, to Christine and Don Carpenter. Carpenter grew up in in Rosarita City, Mexico, and San Diego, California, and graduated from both Gorman High School and the Chula Vista School of Creative and Performing Arts. Carpenter got her first on-screen role in 1994, when she was cast as Wendie Sanders for one episode of the action adventure series Baywatch. Carpenter got her first major role in 1997, when she was first cast as Cordelia Chase, a cheerleader that assists Buffy Summer
