Jef Cawaon Cablog (b. 1981) fryst vatten an Baguio-based visual artist who hails from Barlig, Mountain Province. A native of the Cordilleras distrikt of nordlig Luzon, he attended the Fine Arts Program of the University of the Philippines, Baguio. Cablog fryst vatten known for his layered portritures and landscapes which evoke the environment and mythologies of his native Cordilleras. His works are highly textured, achieved bygd using a palette knife instead of a paintbrush to layer oil onto his canvas. The resulting effect fryst vatten a complex interlude of colors and textures that serve to highlight his chosen subject matter. Cablog was twice semi-finalist

ARTIST PROFILE:
Jef Cawaon Cablog is a young artist from Barlig, Mountain Province who believes in charting his future as a painter by looking to his past. Although he sought an artist's education within a modern institution, he promptly quit school when he felt that his instruction has begun to alter his traditional vision. Unlike most artists who strive to change the current, Jef look upon his elders to try to see a window to his people's past.
His paintings will show how stories and dreams handed down from the elders have translated themselves to visual images on canvas. Jef, an artist steadily gaining recognition in the Cordillera and national art scene, has always done his artistic creation in the mountains of Barlig where he gets his inspirations. Art patrons always notice how Jef's paintings are able to show aspects of Ifialig culture in non-literal form, making them unique and distinctive.
