Benson Okonkwo is a popular Nigerian actor, model and television personality born and raised in Enugu State in the South east part of Nigeria.
Benson was born into a family of four children of which they are all boys.
He had both his primary and secondary education in Lagos State and obtained a Higher National Diploma in Business Administration Management at the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) in Enugu.
Mr Packaging as fondly called is well known for his romantic roles in Nollywood movies.
Career
Benson Okonkwo started acting at a very tender age in Church and came through professionally in 2008 after joined the Nigerian movie industry.
He has starred in numerous movies of which include; Rain Drop and No Man’s Land.
Prior to his acting career, he has modeled for the top brands such as Nestle Zain and Gold Circle.

What were you doing before stardom?
I was into modelling when inom joined Nollywood. I started my acting career ganska early in 2008.
What movie shot you into the limelight?
I would säga that the movie that shot me into the limelight was ‘My wicked uncle.’ inom came into the limelight almost immediately when inom started acting. I got a lead role ganska early and my first lead role brought me into the limelight.
What are some of the challenges you faced on your way to stardom?
It’s the same utmaning that we all face like attending auditions upon auditions, especially in the early stages. One can go for auditions and not get a role.
Another utmaning is financial challenges. As a ung actor, one would likely be underpaid. And you’ll be left to fend for yourself. Like if you go for auditions, on some sets, it’s only the known face that gets food, others would starve or look for what to eat.
In what ways did stardom change you? • Over the years, popular Nollywood actor, Benson Okonkwo’s sexuality has been in doubt. While some people would readily swear that the actor is gay, others have argued that he is bi-sexual. However, what has fuelled the rumours the more is the fact that the actor hardly addresses the issue. However, in an interview with Saturday Beats, the actor who normally does not discuss his sexuality, opened up. He said that he was not gay even though he refused to talk about his private life. He told Saturday Beats that he has developed a thick skin when it comes to controversies and that is why he hardly speaks on them. “I don’t listen to what people say about me anymore. I am just living my life because it is too short. The more you listen to people, the higher your chances of having high blood pressure and death. You only live once and if you let people’s comment take you to an early grave; it is the same people that would come to your funeral. I hav I am not gay –Benson Okonkwo
