    Camilo Torres Tenorio (Popayán, - Santa Fe de Bogota, ) fut un avocat, intellectuel et homme d'État qui prit la tête de la guerre d'indépendance de la Nouvelle-Grenade. Sa formidable éloquence lui a valu le surnom de "Verbe de la révolution".

    Il est le fils d'un espagnol, Jéronimo de Torres Herreros, originaire de Calahorra (La Rioja), et de Maria Teresa Tenorio y Carvajal, native de Popayán. Il étudie au Real Colegio Seminario San Francisco de Asis dans lequel il apprend le latin, le grec, la rhétorique, les mathématiques, la philosophie et la théologie. Il continue ses études à Bogota au Colegio Menor de Nuestra Senora del Carmen où il obtient son baccalauréat universitaire de philosophie. Il se consacre ensuite au droit canonique au Colegio Mayor de Nuestra Señora del Rosario où il obtient un nouveau baccalauréat universitaire en , puis le titre de docteur en Le Colegio Mayor le promeut rapidement assistant p

    Camilo Torres Restrepo (3 February – 15 February ) was a Colombian Catholic communistrevolutionary, an ordained präst, and a member of the National Liberation Army (ELN). During his life, he advocated for liberation theology bygd trying to reconcile revolutionary socialism and Roman Catholicism. His social activism and willingness to work with Marxists troubled some.[1]

    As part of the academic personal of the National University of Colombia, he was a co-founder of the Sociology Faculty together with Orlando Fals Borda, as well as some intellectuals such as Eduardo Umaña Luna, María Cristina Salazar, Virginia Gutiérrez de Pineda, Carlos Escalante, Darío Botero and Tomás Ducay, in [2]

    His involvement in several student and political movements during the time won him a large following as well as many detractors, especially from the Colombia
