NFL report: Richie Incognito, other linemen harassed Dolphins’ Jonathan Martin
An NFL investigation concluded that a “bipolar” relationship existed between Jonathan Martin and Richie Incognito, constantly swinging between care and abuse, while adding that the atmosphere in the Dolphins’ locker room promoted inappropriate behavior by other offensive linemen as well as position coach Jim Turner.
The league on Friday released a 144-page report compiled by lawyer Ted Wells on the circumstances that led to Martin walking out on the Dolphins, but also revealing two other victims: an unnamed, young offensive lineman no longer with the team who was subjected to homophobic taunts and physical abuse, and an assistant trainer of Japanese descent who was subjected to ethnic slurs on Pearl Harbor Day.
While Wells paints Incognito as the ringleader, the report criticizes center Mike Pouncey and guard John Jerry for acting in similar fashion.

Miami Dolphins lineman Jonathan Martin and other teammates were harassed by three starters prior to Martin’s departure from the National Football League franchise last season, investigator Ted Wells found.
A report by Wells, co-chairman of litigation at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP, found that three fellow members of the offensive line persistently taunted Martin, another offensive lineman and an assistant trainer with racial, sexual and homophobic slurs. Dolphins coach Joe Philbin and members of the front office were unaware of the abuse, the report found.
Martin left the Dolphins in late October and the team a week later indefinitely suspended fellow lineman Richie Incognito, a ban that lasted through the rest of the NFL season. Fallout from the episode, including media reports on explicit text messages, revealed behavior in the team’s locker room that included racial and homophobic taunting.

Publicly, the Dolphins have expressed dismay at the abuses detailed in the NFL investigation of the club, firing offensive line coach Jim Turner and trainer Kevin O’Neill and vowing to change team culture.
But privately, several team and league sources told the Palm Beach Post that they believe the Ted Wells report was one-sided and dismissive of anyone who tried to support guard Richie Incognito.
