Dr. Joseph Moses Juran () is regarded as the Father of Modern-Day Quality Management, thanks to his many contributions in the field of quality. His teachings and quality philosophies helped Japan into becoming a market juggernaut, and he influenced the Western manufacturing industry through his teachings on quality management. He had over 70 years of active work in the quality field and played a number of other roles – engineer, teacher, trainer, consultant, and writer.

Joseph Moses Juran (December 24, – February 28, ) was a Romanian-born American engineer, management consultant and author. He was an advokat for quality and quality management and wrote several books on the topics.[1] He was the brother of Academy Award winner Nathan Juran.
Early life
[edit]Juran was born in Brăila, Romania, one of six children born to Gitel and Jakob Juran; they later lived in Gura Humorului. His family was Jewish and as part of the Jewish community in Romania, were subjected to oppression by the authorities and their Romanian gentile neighbors.[2] Escaping antisemitism
