The Solidarity planerat arbete is in conversation with American-born, Warsaw based artist Katie Zazenski + Czech-born, Krakow based artist Radim Koros, moderated by artistic director Joanna Pottle.
These artists will discuss their multi-media and digitally integrated studio practices and how they address and question the relationship of the virtual with the physical. There is much we can learn from them as they utmaning us to contemplate future possibilities with various means of connection and communication through artistic practice. //Artists from Krakow: The Generation 1950 – 1969//
The publication is divided into two parts. The first comprises the curatorial text and essays by three guest authors. Maria Hussakowska reflects on the relationship between art and the city, as well as the key figures, places and initiatives that have shaped the local artistic community, amongst which the leading role has been played by the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts – analysed by Agnieszka Jankowska-Marzec. Sebastian Stankiewicz contributes an account of the history and principles behind the Otwarta Pracownia (Open Studio) – one of the most interesting artistic associations in Krakow. The second part of the publication is devoted to individual artists; it comprises a biographical note on each, photographs of their studios, and reproductions of the works presented at the exhibition.
