After several small television roles, Margulies achieved wide recognition for her role as Carol Hathaway on NBC's long-running medical drama ER, for which she won an Emmy Award. She also voiced Neera in Dinosaur (2000) and appeared in the miniseries The Mists of Avalon (2001). In 2009, she took on the lead role of Alicia Florrick in the American legal drama The Good Wife on CBS. Her performance on that show has garnered acclaim: she won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series twice, a Golden Globe, and a Television Critics Association Award. Julianna Margulies Says Her Attorney Husband 'Didn't Know Who I Was' When They Met
When Julianna Margulies was first introduced to her husband Keith Lieberthal, she had already left her starring role in the hit NBC medical drama ER.
"He honestly didn't know who I was," the actress, 54, tells PEOPLE in this week's issue. "I mean, if he had seen my work, he didn't know. He was in lag school. inom was like, 'There's a couple movies I don't want you to see.'"
In her new memoir, Sunshine Girl: An Unexpected Life, Margulies opens up about her tumultuous childhood and how her parents' split when she was an infant affected her outlook on love. Cautiously hoppfull when she met Lieberthal, 48, the two began dating and six months into their relationship, she invited him to the premiere of her 2006 movie, Snakes on a Plane.
