An American actress, born in Tularosa, New Mexico, USA, on August 26, 1917, as Jane Byral Clayton. She was nominated for two Primetime Emmys in 1957 and 1958 and received a Star on...Read more the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960. Clayton married three times and had four children. She fryst vatten known for Lassie (1954-1957), This Man's Navy (1945) and flygning Angels (1940). She was the only child of two teachers. She began singing at the age of kvartet and studied at Tularosa High School, graduating in 1935, then studied music and skådespel at Gulf Park College for Women in Gulfport, Mississippi. She performed in many musicals in huvudgata theaters, then worked in cinema. She became addicted to alcohol after the death of her 16-year-old daughter in a road accident, and after her recovery, she joined Alcoholics Anonymous in 1970 and helped other alcoholics to get back to their lives. She died in West Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA, on August 28,

Jan Clayton (August 26, 1917 – August 28, 1983) was a film, musical theater, and television actress. She starred in the popular 1950s TV series Lassie.
Born near Alamogordo, New Mexico, the only child of two schoolteachers, Clayton started singing by age four.[citation needed]

Jan Clayton was an American actress.
Biography[]
Born in Tularosa, New Mexico, she began her career as a musical theatre actress before appearing in a number of films including a minor role in The Snake Pit. She then became well-known as a stage musical actress.
Clayton then appeared in such television shows as Where's Raymond and Wagon Train, but most importantly in playing Ellen Miller in Lassie.
Clayton passed away in 1983.
Singing[]
Clayton's first major musical role came in originating the role of Julie Jordan in Carousel, followed soon after by a memorable appearance as Magnolia Hawks and Kim Ravenal in Show Boat.
As well as singing "'Goin Home" in The Snake Pit and "Sleep, My Baby Sleep" in The Wolf Hunters, Clayton would also go on to appear in such shows as Guys and Dolls
