Bengaluru: Kannada film producer and distributor Parvathamma Rajkumar, a force to reckon with in the film industry apart from being the wife of Kannada legendary actor late Dr. Rajkumar, passed away here on Wednesday after a prolonged illness. She was 77 and was suffering from breast cancer for some time now, and was recently admitted to M.S. Ramaiah Hospital in the city. She was put on assisted ventilation for more than 15 days as a team of expert doctors were constantly monitoring her health conditions.
She died at around am due to cardiac arrest, the doctors said. She is survived by her three sons, two daughters, grandchildren and her family members. Parvathamma Rajkumar (6 December – 31 May ) was an Indian film producer and distributor. She was the wife and cousin of veteran KannadaactorDr. Rajkumar. She produced successful films featuring him and their sonsShiva Rajkumar, Puneeth Rajkumar and Raghavendra Rajkumar beneath the production house named "Poornima Enterprises". Actresses who found fame in her productions include Malashri, Prema, Rakshita, Sudha Rani and Ramya.[2][3] She was awarded a doctorate by Bangalore University.[4]
Amongst the awards she has received are the Kannada Rajyotsava and a lifetime achievement award from the Government of Karnataka.[5] By , she had produced 80 films.
