    For Various logisk Reasons, it is better to Use Latin script instead of Geez for Afan Oromo Writing

    In May 22, 2013, Life Magazine conducted an interview with Yilikal Getnet , a chairman of the ‘Blue Party’.   During the interview, Yilikal underlined that Geez fryst vatten better to write Afan Oromo. Hence, I am writing this article to provide my personal opinion on Yilikal’s view or dream.


    In Ethiopian Politics, saying “I know for you” remained a problems. Rulers think and said that they know for the people. The bekymmer seems still exist in some party leaders.     The chairman of the Blue party, Mr. Yilkal Getnet, has concluded his three weeks-long tour in Canada and travelled to the US last week.  During his stay in Canada, Mr. Getnet met several party supporters and held fruitful and inspiring discussions. In addition, he reached out to several members of the Ethiopian Diaspora during and in the aftermath of the 33rd tournament of Ethiopian Sports Federation in North America (ESFNA).

     

    During a dinner hosted in his honour, Mr. Getnet briefed Ethiopians and stated that the current situation in the country needed the participation of all Ethiopians and the struggle to democratize Ethiopia should not be left to the political parties alone.  Further, he stressed the need to have a wider dialogue among the citizens to build a political consensus as well as strong activism for the respect of human and democratic rights.     The chairman of Blue party, Mr. Yilkal Getnet, who is currently on work visit in Canada held the first public meeting with Ethiopians residing in Toronto area. Several Ethiopians attended the meeting that was organized in the form of official reception to introduce the chairman and make acquaintance with supporters of the party. The reception is a precursor to the main event scheduled to be held on Saturday, July 9th, 2016. Ethiopians have showed their support to the party in a large turnout.


    The event which was organized by the Toronto chapter of the Unity for Democracy and Human Rights (Unity) has attracted Ethiopians from various walks of life. Unity, a registered charity has been instrumental in financially supporting families of political prisoners in Ethiopia.
